Appropriate Care Instructions for PVC Wall Cladding

If you’ve invested in PVC wall cladding, then you want it to last as long as possible. PVC is amongst the best products on the market. Not only are they affordable and aesthetically pleasing, but they are also incredibly low-maintenance. This is ideal for many people, who don’t have the time or capacity to properly treat this material from the elements. You’ll find that your cladding doesn’t require frequent oiling or waxing to maintain its ‘good as new’ appearance.

Here at Bliby Plastics, we know a thing or two about PVC cladding, having specialised in offering it to our customers for many years. We specialise in home improvement accessories, including everything you could need to renovate your home on a budget, which is fundamentally what PVC is all about. If you’re looking for some care instructions to make sure that your PVC lasts as long as possible and continue looking like it’s only just been installed, then hear our step-by-step instructions for proper cladding maintenance.

  • Use Hot, Soapy Water

Some companies might try to sell you specific PVC cleaning products but the truth is you don’t need them. PVC wall cladding is designed to be easily cleaned using warm soapy water. Remember that your cladding is a form of plastic, so using something that is too brash will simply only cause issues. We suggest mixing washing-up liquid with some warm water in a clean bucket. Make sure that you don’t make it too soapy because this will lead to streak marks. Make sure that you thoroughly mix the solution through, so it’s easy to work with.

  • Wipe Down the Panels

You can take a microfiber cloth or sponge, whichever you prefer to work. You use this to remove as much loose dirt and grime as possible. Unlike timber cladding, PVC is designed to stand up against the toughest of weather conditions without fading, rotten or crumbling. All you need to do is clean them. Wash away as much of the loose dirt and grime as you possibly can, allowing your cladding to look as good as new. Make sure that you take the time to rinse the cloth with your water to avoid reapplying any dirt to the PVC panels.

  • Rinse Thoroughly

The last thing you want is for you to have gone to all this effort to clean your PVC wall cladding only for there to be streaks left behind. Warm soapy water is decidedly the cleanest and most convenient way to get rid of grime and bacteria but it can leave a residue. If you want to avoid this streaky fate, then we would advise rinsing down your PVC panels with either a different sponge or your pressure washer (only use half pressure). This will remove any streaks and any leftover dirt and grime.

  • Buff it Up

The last step would be to buff the panels out with a clean microfiber cloth. This will remove any last water residue and allow your cladding to shine. And that’s it; all you need to do to keep your cladding in its best possible condition. These easy steps can be done in an afternoon and won’t require extensive labour.
